a) Open conditional (First conditional) :-

Open conditional sentences are sometimes called the ‘first’ or ‘future’ conditionals. Both clauses in a sentence refer to the future, although the verb in the ‘if- clause’ is in the present tense.

b)     Hypothetical / Unreal conditional (Second conditional) :-

Hypothetical conditional sentences refer to or speculate about something that is (or what we perceive to be) impossible or contrary to fact.

The sentences can refer to the present or the future.

We use unfulfilled / Past conditionals to speculate about past events and about how things that happened or didn’t happen might have affected the past events. We use this conditional to express our regret / reproaches or to make excuses.
